First Due Working Fire

Command request the Tower to stretch the 2 1/2" and knock down the fire from the outside first and then make an interior attack. The tanker followed the ladder in for water until water supply was established. Once the outside was knocked down 2 1  3/4" lines were stretched into the home United 15 (P.Johnson) took over operations. Command requested that the remainder of the 2nd alarm be filled. Crews on division 1 found fire coming up through the floor and believed that there was fire in the basement the second line was moved to the basement where nothing was found but a light smoke condition. with the report of no fire in the basement the line was moved to division 2. Crews on division 1 had knocked down the fire and were in the process of opening up while division 2 found fire in the walls that was believed to have extended into the attic.

At 18:06 on Wednesday December 6th 2006 Susquehanna County Communications transmitted a first alarm assignment for a structure fire on Meshoppen Creek Road in Bridgewater Twp. Montrose 21 (J.Krupinski) was first on scene with a of working fire. United 11 (P.Sprout) was on scene about a minuet later and established the command finding a 2 1/2 story wood frame single family dwelling with heavy fire through the roof of an addition on division 1 and heavy fire on the outside wall of division 2. Command then requested 2 additional tanker off the second alarm and request the engines lay a line from the corner of Cherry and South Main.

division 2 crews worked on opening up and finding access in to the attic but it was found that the building had 2 roofs one over top of the other and the fire had extended in to the open area between the roofs. Interior Crews worked for a couple of hours to make a good access into the the void area to get at rest of the fire. In all crews were on scene for a total of four hours. Companies that assisted included Springville, Elk Lake, Snake Creek, Hop Bottom, and Meshoppen out of Wyoming county. The family was not home at the time of the fire and their were no injuries reported. The home suffered heavy damage in the division 1 living room and the 2 of the kids bedrooms. the rest of the home had some water and smoke damage. The fire marshal was called to determine the cause of the fire.
