On Saturday December 23rd, 2006 at
07:55 Susquehanna County Communications dispatched United Fire Company
along with Montrose EMS to the report of a structure fire at Donald Dean
and Sons on SR 706 Bridgewater Twp. United 12 (M.Hinds) was first to
arrive finding a large commercial building with smoke showing from the
rear. United 11 (P.Sprout) arrived next and established the command.
United Tower 3 and the engines responded with 11. As crews were arriving
they were met by workers that advised that there was a malfunction of
one of the boilers and the sawdust in the area had caught on fire. Crews
made entry to the rear of the building and found heavy smoke conditions.
The building sprinkler system had activated and held the fire in check.

| Crews controlled the
utilities and cleared the building of smoke. once the smoke was
evacuated it was found that the sawdust in the area had caught on fire
but the sprinklers had knocked down the fire. Crews then went to work
removing the smoldering material and checking for extension. Crews
remained on scene a little over and hour. There were no injuries
reported and the building sustained minor heat and smoke damage.
