48 Hour DOH Vehicle Rescue

 

At exactly 10:00 Monday January 29th, 2007 Susquehanna County Communications alerted United Fire Company and Montrose EMS for a report of a single car crash 4 miles west of Montrose on SR 706 Jessup Twp. Communications advised to have received  reports of entrapment. United Rescue 1 responded at 10:02 with a crew of 3 followed about a minuet later by the engine with 2 personnel. United 11 was first to arrive and established command with county and gave the report of a single vehicle roll over with 1 ejected.

Ems advised command that they needed to get to a hospital requested that the landing zone be moved to the high school. The patient was transported by ground to Endless Mountain Health systems in Montrose to receive additional care while they awaited the helicopter. United engine was relocated to the new landing zone. The rescue crew remained at the scene of the crash to control traffic while PSP did the investigation and the tow service recovered the vehicle.   All United units were were back in service by 11:24.

Ems arrived right behind United 11 and began care on the patient. EMS quickly advised command that they wanted the helicopter to fly due to the seriousness of the injuries. Command advised communications of the request and advised the engine to stop about a mile before the scene to set up for a landing zone. The rescue was assigned to split crew one member was sent to assist EMS while the rest of the crews did a search of the area to check for any additional patients. The search proved negative and the crew then focused on controlling the hazards associated with the vehicle.
