The afternoon was calm with the
snow still falling. That afternoon the Emergency Operations Center for
the county called the chief for an assist. The EOC had received a report
that there was a person staying at a summer home on Lake Roy was was not
able to get out and had no food in the house. United 11 (P.Sprout)
responded with a brush truck picked up some food from the store and
delivered it to the victim. Early that evening United Fire Company
was dispatched to assist Elk Lake Fire Company with the report of and
Activated Fire Alarm at the Elk Lake Votech School with a report from
the school of smoke in the building.

On Monday April 16th, 2007 heavy snow fell in the
Montrose area causing many problems. Crews arrived at the station around 8
a.m. that morning to start getting the trucks ready for the hazardous
travel. We were not there long before the alarm sounded. We started the
day with a couple of traffic control calls. Crews used the rescue truck to
free a few vehicles from snow banks. As the snow continued to fall we had
a phone into station with the report of several trees down and no power in
the area of the Forest Lake Rd. in Jessup twp. United Brush 5
responded with a crew of 3. On arrival found the road completely blocked
with several trees Crews worked with residents from the area to clear the
blockage for about 2 hours.

United Tower 3 Engine 6 and Tanker
4 responded with 13 members. When Elk Lake arrived the found that there
had been a small fire in a classroom that had been extinguished by a
janitor. Elk Lake command returned united to service prior to our arrival.
The final dispatch for the day again was for traffic control for a
passenger vehicle stuck on the north Rd. In Bridgewater twp. Rescue 1 and
brush 5 responded. Crews arrived to find a passenger vehicle stuck in the
snow obstructing traffic as well as a state plow truck stuck in the same
area. Crews assisted the passenger vehicle back onto the road and
maintained traffic while a tow responded for the state vehicle. Crews were
clear in little over a half of hour.
