Working Fire in New Milford

On Monday October 29th, 2007 Susquehanna County Communications transmitted the structure fire box for Main St. New Milford Boro. Communications reported fire in the rear of the building. This brought United Tower and Engine 6 on the first alarm. United Tower arrived as the fist due ladder and United Engine 6 arrived as the third due engine. The crew from the ladder was assigned to main a line on division 1 and engine 6 to take a line to division 2. The remainder of the crew went to work with the crew from Hallstead went to work on ventilation. crews on the first and second floor were forced out due to deteriorating conditions. the Ladder pipe  then went to work to knock down the bulk of the fire. with the fire knocked down crews were again able to mount a interior attack. the crews brought the fire under control and were held to assist with overhaul crews operated for just over 2 hours. there were no injuries reported the building suffered major damage. the state police fire marshal was called in to determine the cause of the fire.
