Around 06:00 on Tuesday February 5th,2008
Susquehanna County Communications Alerted Springville Fire Company along
with Montrose EMS and United Rescue for a 1 car crash with confirmed
entrapment on SR 29 Dimock Twp. south of the Dimock blinking light. United
11 (P.Sprout) checked responding to the scene and was advised that there
was a utility pole broken and wires down the car was on it's roof over a
bank. United Rescue Responded with a Crew of 3 with additional Crew
responding in POV. United 11 and Springville 11 (R.Birchard) arrived at
the same time confirming the report from dispatch. Springville 11
established the command and United 11 was assigned operations. United
rescue on arrival deployed the air shores and box cribbing to stabilized
the vehicle. crews gained patient access through the back window and it
was decided to enlarge that opening and remove the victim. Crews used the
Hurst Maverick to cut both "C" posts and fold the roof down. The
extrication took 12 minutes to complete. The victim was transported from
the Scene by ambulance. United Rescue was returned to service shortly
after and Springville Fire remained on scene to assist PSP and the tow
service. United Fire Company gives our condolences to the family of the
victim.
