Working Fire in Rush

On Friday May 2nd, 2008 at around 20:30 Communications dispatched Rush Fire and a Tanker from United along with Montrose EMS for the report of a structure fire on 705 in the village of Rush. Rush 13 (Brock Small) quickly special called for the tower out of United while responding to the scene. United Tower and Tanker responded with a total of 8 with additional to the scene. Rush 13 arrived to find a 1 1/2 story Residential Building with a working fire. Rush Engine 1 took the hydrant and Rush Engine 7 took the "A" side deploying an 1 1/2" attack line to division 2. United Tanker arrived and was placed in staging due to the hydrant being used. The Tower arrived and was requested to ground ladder the building and open the roof for ventilation. The Crew went to work opining two holes in the roof per commands request. Command also special called for United Rescue for air shortly into the incident. Crews put the fire under control quickly and remained on scene for extensive overhaul. Crews operated for just over 3 hours before returning to service. there were no injuries reported and the structure sustained major damage.
