VFW Fire

On Monday June 16th, 2008 just after 13:00 United fire Company was alerted to a report of smoke coming from the roof and in the building at he V.F.W. on SR 706 in Bridgewater Twp. United 11 (P. Sprout) checked on scene with smoke showing and requesting Mutual aid from Snake Creek, New Milford and Clifford. Engine 2 checked on scene and deployed two 1 3/4" preconnects into division 2  while additional crew began to ladder the roof. Harford Tanker was in the area and stopped to offer assistance while United Engine 6 laid 1,600 feet of LDH to a near by pond. Command requested additional assistance from Hallstead and Springville. Interior crews encountered heavy smoke on the second division. The interior crews found the fire to be in a A/C unit and its duct work. Crews removed the smoldering material from the building. Crews remained on scene clearing the smoke from the building. There were no injuries reported and the building only suffered smoke damage and the damage to the A/C system. Crews were returned to service in Just under 2 hours. We would like to thank all of our mutual aid departments for there assistance.
