While vacationing in Ocean City, NJ, Third Assistant Chief Paul Johnson and his wife, Amy, attended a 9/11 Remembrance Service conducted by the Ocean City, NJ, American Legion Morvay-Miley Post 24 and VFW Post 6650.

 The service included the ringing of the four fives (5-5-5-5) on a bell in remembrance of the fire and EMS personnel who perished at Ground Zero, the placing of a wreath by Ocean City, NJ, fire and police personnel, and the tolling of the bell eleven times for each war our country has been involved in and those who gave their lives fighting in those wars.

 The four fives (5-5-5-5) was a code that was rung out on firehouse bells many years ago when alarms were received via a telegraph system that rang the bells.  The four fives was rung when a department member had perished in the line of duty.

 Also included in the service were school children from the Ocean City, NJ, primary, middle and high schools reading poems and essays they had written about 9/11/01.  The wind ensemble and choir from the high school each performed a musical selection.  The keynote address was given by the Ocean City, NJ, Police Chief.  The Atlantic City Fire Department Pipe Band closed the service with the playing of “Amazing Grace.”
