Possible Structure fire 31 Park St.
Just After 21:00 hours on Tuesday March 24th, 2009 United fire Was dispatched for a possible Structure fire at 31 Park st. In Montrose boro. United 11 and 12 were on scene with a single story residential structure with smoke in the basement. United tower responded with a crew of Five followed by engine 2. the tower was directed into the drive way and the crew was split with laddering the roof and setting up for ventilation. Engine 2 was directed to stand by at the hydrant at Wilson and park. Crews found the source of the smoke to be coming from the wood stove in the basement. crews removed the hot coals from the fire place and and ventilated while additional crews searched for extension. The problem was found to be a blocked flue pipe with no extension from the chimney. Crews then cleaned the chimney. there were no injuries reported. While units operated on the fire United was also dispatched to Set up a LZ at the high school. Command released engine 2 with United 14 (P.Johnson) to handle the LZ. The Brought us to the sixth call in 10 hours for our station. We would like to thank all of our mutual aid departments for there assistance through the day. (Audio)
