Wednesday Brings 5 calls in 7 hours

While  crew were still working on getting equipment back in service United would again be alerted for a 1st due structure fire on turnpike Rd. in Bridgewater Twp. for a wood shed on fire endangering a residence. United 13 would mark responding with smoke visible from the station requesting the next due engine brush and two tankers be added. This added Hop bottom brush and tanker as well as New Milford Engine and tanker. united 13 arrived to find a 20' X 20' out building fully involved endangering the residence 15' away and a small brush fire taking the Turnpike Command. United tower would arrive and lay a line from the pond across the street and lead off with the ground monitor. united Engine 2 made an attempt to access the pond but got stuck in the attempt. While the fire was being attacked a second crew made entry to the house and checked for extension. engine 6 arrived and set up its portable pump in the pond supplying the tower. the fire was knocked down quickly. Springville tanker was added to the alarm as well due to Hop bottom tanker experiencing mechanical issues while responding. Command had Springville hold in United station with enough resources on scene. crews remained on scene until 19:00 hours overhauling the building. the Fire building was a total loss and the residence did receive damage to the outside of the structure. There was no injuries reported. As crews had returned to station and were in the process of getting the apparatus put back together the chief got a call about a controlled burn in the boro and was responding to check on it with a couple additional members when the Tones sounded for a controlled burn out of control on lower South main St. on the boro. Brush 7 and Engine 6 responded with the chief making on scene with a burn pile extending into a wooded area. the engine and bush crew would handle the fire quickly. finally all units were in service for the night around 21:00 hours. 
Correction: United fire would also respond to a second fire in Forest Lake Twp. on Cole Rd. after being released from the first fire.

At 13:03 on Wednesday April 15th, 2009 United fire was alerted on the first alarm to respond to assist Forestlake with a grass fire on Frasier Rd in forest Lake Twp. United brush and Tanker would respond. Forestlake crew arrived to find a large grass fire. United crews would arrive and be put to work for the next 3 hours along with several other area departments. In all 20 to 25 acres would burn. As the crew were arriving in Forestlake communications was alerting united fire along with Springville brush and Rush tanker (Cover up for units operating) for a woods fire on Conference Rd. in Montrose boro. United engine 2 and 6 would both respond. United 12 (M. Hinds) would have the command. Crews would arrive to find a large woods fire not endangering any structures but in a hard to access area. Conference command would request Snake creek and Silver lake brush units. units operated for about an hour and a half bringing this fire under control. As crews were placing equipment back in service the tones again rang out for a rescue assist to Hop Bottom for a motorcycle crash in SR 11 north of Hop Bottom. The Rescue would respond but get canceled while responding.
