September Starts Busy
On the Evening of Tuesday September 1, 2009 at 16:53 United Fire was alerted for a rescue assist to New Milford for a motorcycle crash with the bike and tree on fire. United rescue 1 responded with 6 and additional in POV. United 11 (P. Sprout) arrived with New Milford Engine 3 to find the crash in United's First due. Unfortunately the victim succumbed to the injuries sustained.  Units Closed the road while the state police did the investigation. Units cleared the scene around 19:00. As the units were pulling back into the station from the crash Communications was dispatching the structure box for an apartment fire at 15 Church St. in the boro. Units responded promptly with the tower and engine 2 taking the C side of the building and laddering the roof and Engine 6 taking the A side and tying into the stand pipe. Units began assisting with the evacuation of the building while the tower crew made entry to find a small kitchen fire on the 5th floor. the fire was controlled with the PW can. Crews remained on scene to ventilate the building. Crews returned in service by 20:30 with minor damage to the fire apartment and no injuries. Thanks to the mutual aide units that were dispatched to assist. The final call for the night was dispatched at 23:35 for a rescue assist to Snake Creek on SR 29 in liberty Twp. for a car into a tree on fire with the occupant out of the vehicle. United rescue was canceled by snake Creek prior to there arrival on scene.
