The communications were reporting multiple calls being received. As the tower was checking responding with a crew of EMS was arriving reporting a working fire heavy smoke showing. United Engine 2 responded with 2 behind the tower. With limited staffing and the report from EMS United 15 (M. Rosin) officer in the tower requested a second alarm be transmitted. United tower arrived seconds later to find a 2 story wood frame 4 unit apartment building with heavy smoke from all sides confirming all occupants were out of the structure. United 15 assumed the command and requested that the engine lay in. The tower crew stretched an 1 3/4" line off the tower through the front of the building. Interior crews encountered heavy fire at the top of the stairs leading to division 2 with extension to the common attic. As the interior crew were getting a k nock on the fire exterior crews began exterior ventilation processes. A second hand line was also quickly stretched. Crews remained on scene until about 14:30 with assistance from Springville, Rush, Meshoppen, Silver Lake, Hallstead, and snake creek standing by at our station.
