A little after 20:00 on Friday December 25th, 2009 United fire was
alerted for a Chimney fire 12 Bank St in the boro. United 14 (P.Johnson)
went enroute to the scene and was advised that the caller was the
neighbor reporting flames from the chimney did not believe any one was
home. United 14 arrived with nothing evident from the exterior but
reporting that a smoke detector was activated on the inside. United
Tower and engine 2 responded. The tower was directed into the neighbors
drive way and the crew split one group going into the residence to
perform the primary search and the other laddering the building.
Interior Crews found no signs of extension from the chimney and secured
the fire source. Exterior crews gained access to the chimney. Engine 6
responded along with the utility. Both engines were held to secure water
if needed. Crews cleaned the chimney. all Units were in service at
21:20. There was no damage to the structure and no one was hurt.
