On the Evening of Wednesday January 20th, 2010 United fire was alerted
for an Engine and tower assist to Springville on the Dimock to Nicholson
Rd. for a chimney fire. Springville 11 arrived with United 13 (C.E.
Daly) to find large log style home with no flames visible. United Tower
and Engine 6 would respond. United tower would arrive and be assigned to
the roof division and utilized ground ladder to gain access to the top
of the chimney. Engine 6 arrived and was staged at the bottom of the
driveway. Crews from Springville controlled the fire in the fire box and
and searched for extension while crews worked together to clean the
chimney. Crews operated on scene for abou 40 minutes before returning to
service. There were no injuries reported and very minor damage to the
residence.
