Crash with Entrapment
at 17:05 on Thursday January 28th, 2010 United fire and Montrose E.M.S. were alerted for a 2 vehicle crash with one caller reporting entrapment. The crash was located on SR 706 west near the Penn-DOT shed. Within seconds of dispatch Montrose MICU 3 was reporting on scene with confirmed entrapment requesting the rescue to expedite. United rescue responded with a crew of 4. The rescue arrived to find a pick-up versus mini van with one trapped in the van United 17 (C. Sprout) established the 706 west command. Crews began setting up for the rescue but were advised by E.M.S. that the Patient had succumbed to his injures. Crews then stood by setting up a detour to rout traffic around the scene.  Engine 2 had responded but was cancelled and sent back to respond the Utility. Crews remained on scene while State Police handled the investigation. Once the investigation was completed crews assisted with removing the victim for the vehicle. the operator of the second vehicle was transported by E.M.S. with unknown injuries. All united units were returned to service around 20:30.
