Just after 16:00 on Saturday April 24th, 2010 United fire was alerted to
stand-by at station for a possible assist to New Milford Fire who were
dispatched for a brush fire. New Milford units arrived to find a Fire in
a junk yard with several vehicles burning. The fire was not accessible
by most fire trucks. Command requested additional resources to
respond. This brought United Tanker and Engine 6 along with other
departments. The Tanker responded with a crew of 2 followed by Engine 6
with a crew of 5. Units arrived and were staged with command requesting
our personnel in air packs up to the fire. crews hiked up to Hallstead
Engine 3 that was attacking the fire to relive the crews that had been
working. Command then requested that Engine 6 back up the hill to New
Milford Pumper Taker and lay a line down to the main road. Engine 6 laid
the line and set up a tanker drop site with United Tanker getting in the
water shuttle. Crews spent the next hour and a half knocking down and
overhauling the fire. Crews were back in service shortly after 18:00.
