At 08:29 on Wednesday December 29th, 2010 United fire was alerted for
the tower and Engine 6 as part of the first alarm assignment for a
residential fire on SR 29 in Springville Twp. United 13 responded to the
scene followed by the Tower with 4 and the Engine with 3. communications
was reporting a fire in the living room and a home owner was trying to
reenter the structure to retrieve a dog. Springville 16 was first to
arrive with a 1 1/2 story cape cod with smoke showing requesting the
next due tanker. About a minute later 16 reported that everyone was out
of the building and it was fully involved requesting the balance of the
second alarm. Springville's engine arrived and placed it's deck gun in
service getting a quick knock on the fire. once the fire had been
knocked down Springville crews stretched a 1 3/4" line into service. The
Tower arrived and crew split with 2 going to the roof to open up and 1
going interior to start opening up for the engine crew. Engine 6 was
requested to Stop at Mitchells Stone and set up a tanker fill site.
United Utility also responded to assist with water supply. As additional
units began arriving from the second alarm a second line was stretched
to division 2 where the fire had extended to the knee wall and attic
area. Crews quickly brought the fire under control but remained on scene
with extensive overhaul. There were no injuries reported and the home
suffered major damage. A state police fire marshal was brought to the
scene to determine a cause of the fire. All United units were returned
to service just before 12:00. |
