At 16:26 on Sunday November 6th, 2011 United fire and Montrose E.M.S. were alerted for a single vehicle roll over 2 miles north of Montrose on State Route 29. United 11 would respond to the scene followed by the rescue with a crew of 3 and the engine with 3. while Units were responding communications would advise they received a report from the scene that there were 4 injuries with 3 victims trapped and one ejected from the vehicle. United 11 then requested Hallstead rescue to assist. United 11 would arrive just behind E.M.S. finding a sedan out in a pasture about 75 feet from the road on it's roof with 2 people trapped in the vehicle one of the victims with their legs pinned under the roof of the vehicle and one victim out of the vehicle in the field. E.M.S. triaged the Patients and determined that they all would need to be flown and command then requested 4 air medical Helicopters and to have them land at the Montrose high school. command also requested Snake Creek Fire to assist us with shutting down SR 29 in Franklin forks with our fire police closing the road at the lake. command also requested Springville engine to assist with the landing zone. Communications advised also that Hallstead Rescue was out of service and they had bumped up rush rescue on the box. The rescue would arrive and begin stabilization efforts with United 13 being assigned operations. the engine would arrive and deploy a safety line.  Engine 6 responded to set up the LZ with United 12 having the LZ command at the high school. crews began extrication efforts with additional crew assisting ems with packaging and transport of the victim not trapped.  Crews removed the passenger door to gain access to the patients still in the vehicle and were assisted by ems with packaging the victims for transport. crews then had to open the drivers door to extricate the second victim in the vehicle. once the victims were removed focus was moved to a lifting operation to free the final victim from under the vehicle. Crews used airbags to lift the vehicle. The final victim was removed at 17:10 just over 40 minuets from dispatch. Crews remained on scene controlling traffic and providing lighting for the investigation as well as assisting the land owner with fixing his fence and assisting Police with the investigation. all units returned to service just after 20:00 hours. A huge thank you to our mutual aid department who assisted us on this incident.
