Snow Keep Crews Busy
Wednesday December 7th 2011.
As nightfall began to descend on our area crews were alerted for he tower and engine 6 to respond for the second alarm assignment for the working residential Structure fire on SR 106 in Clifford township. While the fire was being dispatched United 11 was on the phone looking for a crew for a tree down on sprout road. the tower responded to the fire with a crew of 5 followed by the engine with 3. 6 more members with the utility responded to the tree down. the tower and engine were canceled while responding to the fire. The utility crew took care of 2 large trees down with the assistance of a GDS crew. as crews were returning to service he snow was beginning  to fall. all units were back in the hall by 06:00. At 06:45 with a few inches of snow already on the ground united fire was alerted for an assist to the Boro Police for traffic control with several vehicle blocking the road on Owego Street headed out of the boro. United 11 followed by the utility responded with additional fire police. crews shut down 167 north. while crews were operating on 167 north we started to receive reports of the same conditions just south of the boro on SR 29 united 13 and engine2 responded. also the fire police on the north end of 167 we receiving reports from motorists of large trucks off  the road in the North road in Bridgewater Twp. united 11 requested forest Lake fire police to assist with this area. The 29 South crew also started receiving reports of vehicles stuck in the road farter south. south of south Montrose and the Dimock area. crews operated for the next few hours  working with several tow services and P-Dot to make to roads safe to pass. Once 167 was clear communications advised that SR 2024 in Dimock Twp. was blocked by a tractor trailer the utility would respond and work with Dimock twp to take care of this situation. at 11:30 the Utility had just cleared the final incident on 2024 when united fire was alerted as part of the second alarm assignment for the Rescue to respond as RIT to assist Meshoppen on a working residential fire off from Overlook road in Auburn Twp. the rescue responded with 6. crews arrived and handeld RIT responsibilities until being released by command. all United units were back in service by 02:00
