At 19:40 hours on Tuesday December 13th, 2011 United fire was alerted
for rescue assist to Springville for the report of 1 vehicle into a tree
with entrapment on SR 2024 Near the Dimock 4 corners. United 11
responded and was updated that they were getting reports of 1 heavily
entrapped and unconscious and one other patient. United rescue responded
with a crew of 5. Springville 11 arrived on scene to find a 4 door sedan
into a tree at the passenger door with 2 patients heavily entrapped in
the vehicle. Springville 11 established to command and requested air
medical to respond. United 11 arrived and was assigned operations
requesting a full deployment of the rescue on arrival. EMS arrived and
requested a second air medical unit to respond. command then
requested that United respond an engine while Springville engine handled
the landing zone. United Engine 2 responded with a crew of 3. The rescue
arrived and began stabilization efforts with box cribbing. crews then
wide bodied the drivers side and removed the roof freeing the driver in
just under 20 minuets from arrival. United Engine arrived and deployed a
safety line. With severity of the second trapped victim command
requested the next due rescue to the scene. this brought Meshoppen
rescue. Crews then went to work opening up the passenger side of the
vehicle and working on displacing the dash. the Crew from meshoppen
arrived an began assisting with he very difficult task. crews used
almost every tool on the rescue to peal back the layers of the vehicle
and used rams and a chain come along to displace the dash. the second
victim was finally freed just after an hour of the rescues arrival. Both
victims were flown to trauma centers with very serious injures.
All United Units were back in service by 21:30. |
