Unseasonable Weather Brings brush Fires
Just After 15:30 on Monday February 6th, 2012 United fire was alerted for a brush truck to respond for a brush fire on Lane Road in Forestlake twp. United brush 7 responded with 7 members Crews arrived and were assigned to the up hill side to the fire deploying both hose reels with extensions to reach the fire. Crews worked with crews from forest lake and rush to contain the fire. once the fire had been knocked down the crew remained with extensive overhaul. At 16:45 with brush 7 still operating on the first fire United Fire was alerted for the engine and tower to respond to a brush fire endangering  a structure on states road in Springville Twp. United engine 6 responded with a crew of 4 followed by the tower with 2. Nicholson 17-11 was first to arrive reporting about 3 acres burning slowly toward a barn. Crews arrived and positioned to protect both structures that were in danger. United engine 6 arrived and crew was deployed to assist the Springville brush crew with overhaul.  once the fire was knocked down the tower was released to service and the engine was sent to Springville station to stand by. All units had made it back to the station by 18:30 in all about 20 acres were burned between both fires. there were no injuries reported.
