United Fire hosts air shore demo

On July 10th the United Fire Co. was given an Air Shore demonstration by Ray Smeriglio of Fire and rescue Products of Harrisburg, Pa. Ray demonstrated different the Paratech product line and showed the many different possible uses for the equipment as well as how it was made and maintained.  After showing the different components to the system and reviewing the safety specifications of the products, a hands on field demonstration was conducted using an overturned vehicle. As can be viewed in the photos members were able to rapidly and safely stabilize the vehicle.

The department is viewing this equipment with a possible purchase in mind to better serve the communities we protect. While here we show this equipment being used to stabilize a vehicle, the same equipment could be used in many different types of collapse or trench rescue also. This system also has the great advantage of being able to be added to over time, as other equipment is needed to meet the changing needs of the community.
