Crash With Entrapment in Montrose Boro
On Monday February 6th, 2006 at 17:27 Susquehanna County Emergency Operations Center dispatched the United Fire Company and Montrose EMS to a reported motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Cherry ST and Church ST in Montrose Boro. The EOC on dispatch advised that there was possible entrapment. The first Unit to arrive was Montrose21(J. Krupinski) who reported back to the EOC that there was heavy entrapment and requested the helicopter to fly. the first United officer to arrive was United 14(C.Rosengrant) he found a small car facing south in the northbound lane on Cherry ST just south of the intersection of Church St. With one male still in the vehicle. The vehicle had heavy driver side damage and EMS was reporting serious injuries. Command advised Operations to redispatch the United Fire Company for a second engine to respond to the park on Jackson ST in Montrose for the landing zone. United Rescue 1 arrived in first due and deployed the Hurst Maverick tool to start the extrication. The Passenger door was already open. EMS had gained access to the patient at that time and advised that he was not entrapped and were going to rapidly extricate the victim. The rescue crew then assisted EMS with removal of the victim. The crew from engine 6 on arrival were assigned to control that hazards while Engine 2 crews were setting up the landing zone. The rescue crew assisted the engine crew by providing access to the hood compartment to disconnect that battery. Once the scene had been secured it was turned over to the Montrose Boro Police department. Command returned the rescue company and held the engine company for traffic control while PD did its investigation. The Patient was air lifted by Life Flight 3 to an area Trauma Center. Command was terminated and all crews were placed back in service at 21:20. The Incident is Still Under investigation. (READ STORY LOCAL PAPER) |
