To participate as a Decon firefighter each member must have essentials
of firefighting or be firefighter I certified (EMS responders for Decon
ambulance need EMT cert in place of essentials), complete 24 hour Hazardous
Material Operations Class, 4 hour Terrorism
Awareness, 16 hour Incident Command class, and 8 hour Mass Decon Awareness. To Be an officer on the
engine you will need in addition to the above requirements 8 hour
Terrorism Operations. Many of the Members that participated in these two
trainings are well on the way to fulfilling the requirements. As of
this time County EMA has received at least 3 applications for companies
interested in supplying an engine. Each county in the 8
county region is required to have 4 Decon engine companies. |
