We would like to put a special thank
you out to the Coy Family for providing access to the Montrose Sporting
Goods building on Public Ave. in Montrose for the hands on evolutions of
the Training. Many of the of the trainees plan on continuing on to
get the necessary training to obtain Firefighter 1 certification. We
would also like to thank all of the instructors of the class for their
hard work and flexibility to create a wonderful learning environment and
to meet the needs of all who attended the class.

United Fire Company
hosted an 88 hour Essentials of Firefighting Class in the spring of
2005. The class was put on by Luzerne County Community
College. In all 5 county company sent members to the training held
in Montrose PA. the companies in attendance included Elk Lake, Forest
Lake, Hallstead, Springville, and United. The Class was very large
with about 50 firefighters in the class. Training went very well and
all who came got a lot of new ideas and skills. we have seen many improvements
in many of our members because of the class. we are currently
hosting a class this winter and the county plans on hosting the class on a
more regular basis
