1st Due Barn Fire |
On Saturday October 25th, 2008 around 11:00 United Fire company
along with Montrose EMS for the report of the barn fire SR 29
south of Montrose. Call was a passer by on a cell phone
reporting smoke coming from the barn. With the Chief being out
of town with the tower for a funeral detail he quickly requested
that Messhoppen be requested for their aerial. United 12 (M.Hinds)
marked on scene with smoke showing from the main area hayloft.
United Engine 2 with 3, engine 6 with 2, and tanker 4 with 1,
responded. United command then requested that a full second
alarm be requested.

Working Church fire |

On the evening of Wednesday October 22nd, 2008 while United
Units were picking op from a AFA on Wilson ST in the boro
communications were dispatching the 1st alarm for a Structure
Fire in Snake Creeks first Due. Communications reported a
working fire the United Methodist Church on the Silver Creek rd.
United rescue Engine and tanker were due on the alarm. The first
officer on scene confirmed the working fire with the kitchen of
the large church structure well off. Command requested a second
engine and the tower out of united.

9-11 2008 |

On Thursday September 11th, 2008 Members of the United Fire
company and other surrounding companies gather at the Danny
Chrisman Memorial Park In South Montrose. An annual service is
held to remember all those who lost their lives on September 11
and those of the servicemen that have perished fighting the war
on terror. (More) |

While vacationing in Ocean City, NJ, Third
Assistant Chief Paul Johnson and his wife, Amy, attended a 9/11
Remembrance Service conducted by the Ocean City, NJ, American
Legion Morvay-Miley Post 24 and VFW Post 6650.
The service included the
ringing of the four fives (5-5-5-5) on a bell in remembrance of
the fire and EMS personnel who perished at Ground Zero, the
placing of a wreath by Ocean City, NJ, fire and police
personnel, and the tolling of the bell eleven times for each war
our country has been involved in and those who gave their lives
fighting in those wars.
