| An Alarm was transmitted by
the Susquehanna County Comm. center on Thursday October 13th 2005
at aprox 06:20 hours for a barn fire on Turnpike RD in Bridgewater
twp reported fully involved. United
11 (P. Sprout) was first to arrive reporting Fully involved Barn
fire with hazards and establishing command.
Due to the Tower being out of service for repairs
command quickly requested station 18 Clifford ladder to the scene and also
requested Hop Bottom Fire for an engine and tanker to both respond to the
scene. Command also then requested Silver Lake Tanker and Rush Fire
for an Engine to respond to our station for stand by.

There was some concern that the fire
had extended in to one of the large silos that was connected to the barn.
The safety officers on scene kept a close eye on the silo. The fire was declared
out at aprox 10:00 and the State Police Fire Marshall was called to the
scene to determine the cause of the fire.
All units were placed back in
service at 11:05 there were no reported injuries and there was no live
stock in the barn at the time of the fire. Refreshments were brought
to the scene by the United fire departments Ladies Auxiliary. Also we would like to thank company fire Photographer
Renee Coy for the excellent pictures.

Command then assigned the first in
engine United Engine 2 to lay a 5" line from a creek at the bottom of
the hill on its way into the scene. Upon arrival engine 2 crew was then assigned
to set up defensive attack operations. The crew then deployed the ground
monitor and 3" line. United Engine 6 and Tanker 4 then finished
laying the supply line. Engine 6 then returned to the creek and began the
drafting operation and Tanker 4 took up the relay position.
When crews from Hop Bottom arrived
they assisted in setting up the lines for the arrival of Clifford Ladder.
The crews then joined the United crews protecting the exposures with
master streams. When Clifford ladder arrived the ladder pipe was
deployed and knocked down the bulk of the fire. Once command declared the
fire under control 2 1 3/4" lines were deployed for overhaul.
